My Heart Belongs...

I've been doing some soul searching lately and have come to a big realization. Like, huge...life changing.

I've come to realize...

I WAS NOT MEANT TO BE BORN AND RAISED IN MICHIGAN!!!!

And why am I still living here? Who knows...

Where was I meant to live, you ask? The South, obviously! I am, deep down inside, a Southern Belle (wanna-be).

Sure, my dad's relatives originated in the South. Kentucky to be exact. But not classy, Kentucky Derby, rich Kentucky...

...no. My relatives were mountain-living, moonshine-making, hillbillies. This is not a joke, sadly.

Two places that are calling my name:

1) Savannah, Georgia

I spent a lot of time in Savannah when I was younger. My grandparents had a condo on the ocean in a neighboring town, Tybee Island. After my grandpa passed away 7 years ago, my grandma sold the condo, and I miss it like crazy; I get emotional and teary-eyed just thinking about it! Savannah would definitely be my number one pick since it's so sentimental.

2) Charleston, South Carolina

Gorgeous. A co-worker told me she could see me living in SC!

Reasons I know I'm destined to live in the South:

1) I have a secret (but not so secret anymore) love for cowboy boots with shorts/dresses.

{I get angry when I look at Carrie Underwood because she's so fricken gorgeous. Proof above.} If I were to rock this look in Michigan, I would look like an idiot. If you're not going to the Hoedown or a country concert, you just look out of place.

2) I can't get enough of Sweet Tea and mason jars

I need mason jars for this summer. Then I can pretend I'm in the South, chilling poolside instead of in boring Michigan

3) I have to stop myself from writing 'ya'll' in every single one of my blog posts

4) I say "bless your heart" but Michiganders look at me like I'm crazy

5) Gimme some fried chicken, cornbread, and fried okra

I would love to move South some day, even if just for a couple years. I could see myself fitting in just fine!

Where do you feel destined to live?

xoxo, J

I literally just LOL'd and gave you a virutal hug because FINALLY someone understands me! I'm a Boston girl, make no mistake about that with my accent and attitude BUT hence my blog name, and the fact that I tend to develop a slight southern accent if drinking, I too truly believe I'm meant to be a Southern Belle....LOVE this post!

I am no doubt a city-loving little lady right now but I can so relate to this too. I catch myself wanting to write y'all on numerous occasions but could never do it because all the real southerners would so make fun of me for it haha. It doesn't help that half the blogs I follow are all from the South either.

I'm a Michigan girl too. I was born in the middle of the state and couldn't wait to get out of the small town, but couldn't stand to be too far away from my family. I'm a little country at heart too, and brought it with me to the metro Detroit area, so I know all about the strange looks!

I'm so glad I'm not alone! We would be the best of friends, fake Southern accents and all!

JSimps we need to up and move it to the south! I need people in my life with Southern accents and a slow paced lifestyle! I'm ready to up and move to the location of one of Nicholas Sparks books. But for real I'm meant to be living it up in Cambodes! You would love it there! check out this vid of Nerdwood talking about the human trafficking there. It's totes up your alley.

I'm right there with you! I'm stuck in the Orlando area. I would love to wear cowboy boots everyday if I didn't look out of place. Sweet tea and mason jars are my favorite. And I say y'all all the time and someone always calls me out about it. Someday soon I will move to where I am meant to be. I hope you do too :)

I feel the exact same way! I was born in Detroit, raised in the middle of nowhere, Michigan but I know for a fact that I belong in the south. I plan on moving to SC when I graduate cuz I feel the same way with all of these things!
